Answer Engineered publishes numbers about how AI engines choose their sources. The desk's rules for those numbers are stricter than the field's habits — this page states them.

What counts as a source?

Every statistic links to the dataset, study, or on-record statement that produced it — never to a roundup, listicle, or slide that repeats it. Where the producing document discloses a sample size, the article states it next to the number (340 million prompts, 300 thousand keywords, 14 billion pages). A figure whose primary source cannot be reached does not ship.

How is vendor interest handled?

Much of the strongest data in AI search visibility comes from vendors with a stake in the result. The desk does not exclude such data — excluding it would leave almost nothing — but it names the interest in the same breath as the number, and where independent measurements corroborate or contradict a vendor figure, the article says so. When two credible sources disagree on a number, the desk publishes the disagreement, not a pick.

Why is every number dated?

Citation behavior on AI surfaces measurably churns — week over week, engine by engine. A figure that was true in a December measurement window is a December figure, not a fact about the world. Articles carry their measurement windows in-line, and the desk treats its own published numbers as decaying assets: the statistics reference page is revised as the record changes, with dateModified reflecting real revisions.
